In the Press: Stephen Roche Talks Titanium with Warren Rossiter for BikeRadar
7th March, 2026
Bikes are highly subjective. What’s beautiful to one person can look hideous to another, and one person’s perfectly fitted rig for long hours in the saddle is someone else’s back-breaking torture device. But there are a handful of universally accepted truths, even when it comes to something as divisive frame material. For example, we challenge you to find an experienced rider who doesn’t love titanium.
BikeRadar’s senior technical editor, Warren Rossiter, is one of them, and one of a growing number of people turning away from overpriced carbon-fibre builds and back towards the tactility of Ti. He sat down with The Bike Tailor’s very own Stephen Roche to get the scoop on the current titanium renaissance.
“Those bikes suit elite riders and marketing narratives; a well-designed titanium bike suits real riders, whether you're a weekend warrior, big-mile endurance rider or commuter.”
Pair this with the timeless beauty of a polished metal frame – slim tubes, classic lines – not to mention the material’s tank-like durability and low weight, and it’s easy to see the appeal.
“Back when titanium was the most lusted-after of frame materials,” adds Rossiter, “we journalists often referred to titanium bikes as ‘forever bikes’ – the bikes you could ride until you couldn’t pedal anymore, thanks to the long fatigue life of the material and its anti-corrosion properties.
“I think the resurgence of titanium bikes has something to do with this.”
